Hi, Micky: If you know a hospital-based LC, ask if you can come in and
observe her seeing mothers. Most hospitals require that a student sign a
statement of confidentiality and if you will be doing hands on they will
probably ask for proof of current TB test. The "they" that I'm referring
to is usually the hospital's HR department. This is the procdure I follow
when I have students - nursing or medical students, graduate students, LC-
to-bes. Have never had a problem arise, but it does help to directly
contact the person you want to work with. Contacting the hospital's HR
department directly will usually get you a blank stare or silence on the
phone.
Hope this helps.
