Ilene, I do have one question on this case? Has the mother been observed and
have you discussed the possibility of Overactive Ejection Reflex? In some
babies, (Nina's post reminded me) this can cause a lot of weight gain,
especially if the baby doesn't burp it up, or let it run out of her mouth.

I think Kellymom.com has the original article I wrote on the subject in it's
entirety. (I believe it was still referred to as "Overactive Letdown" in it's
original form of publication, in about 1994.) Also, there was an article, (still on
the lll.org website) Entitled "Finish the First Breast First" (author's name
escapes me, I'm sorry) which accompanied it. Which is excellent. (Along with a
sidebar of "symptoms" of OER.)

This should, of course, be investigated. However, in cases of healthy babies,
who seem to have no problems with excess belly pain, no greenish stools, no
excess vomiting, and mom shows no signs of OER, it could just be a big baby.

OR, if could be a case of a baby who was destined to BE big, along with
Classic OER.
