Sheila, I love your research project. Keep us posted on any other "smarts"
that these lactating mammals display. I'll bet that at one time we humans
knew what to eat and what not to eat when feeding our young.  At least our
elders knew. And in some places still do.

One of my favorite sections in the Riordan/Auerbach book is the section on
diets for the lactating mother. Maybe in my "next life", after this
*active* LC one, I will delve into this topic and see if I can come up with
something helpful to the US melting pot of dietary chaos.
