Dear Kathy G.
"Borderline" gestational diabetic is a red flag in this situation. Please
consider following the diet plan and or retesting. Recurrent vaginal yeast is a
hallmark of diabetes in pregnancy, for many this is one of the first symptoms.
I usually prescribe terazol if initial otc's have not worked and this is safe
as a vaginal cream as long as your membranes have not ruptured. Other
differentials to consider are sensitivity to any products you have been using
to fight this yeast infection and also latex allergy.
If you do have diabetes, make sure you do not limit breastfeeding when this
baby is born! Isn't it great you can argue for ad lib nursing by beating them
at their own game. Good Luck!
Kate Chalmers RN,MSN,IBCLC,WHNP.
My apologies to all the lactnetters who had to read this personal mail item but
I lost the initial message with Kathy's Email address.
