When I first began reading this, I thought he was born a man and was in the process of transitioning to be a woman.  Under those circumstances, I first thought LLL's position made sense.  Then I read further realized he was born a woman and gave birth to this child, so I thought he should qualify as a LLL leader.  Whatever he identifies as, he is still biologically a mother.  Then I wondered why this distinction makes a difference to me.  Mothers don't always birth their children or begin life as female.

Fathers aren't ever LLL leaders, but the transgendered population needs peer support for breastfeeding, so why shouldn't a father be a LLL Leader?  Like Pat said, this really makes me think.  Also, it shows me that I still have a LOT of unexamined bias.
