Hi All, If you will recall, I sent a note to lactnet last week about the
bottles and bisphenol A. I mentioned that I work for a doctor who was on
the AAP board, and my wording made it sound like the AAP board was going to
come up with a statement about bottles and their safety. Though she is on
the AAP board, she was reviewing the latest so that she could come up with a
statement for her BOOK, and it has nothing to do with the AAP. The
following is a statement from said doctor:

"Here is the latest update on bisphenol A in baby bottles. San Francisco
passed an ordinance banning sales of bisphenol A containing products for
infants, but that ban was recently withdrawn pending further information
regarding whether they are actually unsafe or not.

The National Toxicology Program has begun an independent review of the
scientific literature with respect to bisphenol A. The committee members
will be releasing their findings and recommendations in the next several
months (no date has been set). That information is public, and can be found
at the National Institute of Health website.

NO medical organizations or advisory groups (American Academy of Pediatrics,
Centers for Disease Control, National Institute of Health, etc) has released
any official statements or concerns with respect to bisphenol A."

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused!
