Hello!
I have a question for everyone. I have a friend who is the OB Care
Coordinator for the Family Practice residency program who would really
like to have home visits for the clinic's clients(who are mostly lower
income. She wants me to be the one do do them and has gotten the Ok to
create the position with a few stipulations. 1. She can approach it that
she refers clients to me and I am an independant contractor, I would be
responsible for billing medicare myself and would have to become a
medicare provider. If we could show sucess after x amount of time then
they would put me on staff in a paying position. My question on if we
were to approach it this way would be this would I have to establish
myself as a small business or a not for profit(and which is easier to set
up?)? And what are the codes I would use to bill for?
Another way we could approch it, would be for her to find a grant that
would pay my salary for a year, and then if we can show that the program
is sucessful, then they would hire me on as permanent staff. With this
she would still need to figure out what codes to use and how much to
charge. And the last would be for them to hire me outright with this she
would still need those pesky codes!
I would basically be doing home visits on all breastfeeding clients within
3-5 days postpartum. HAs anyone had any experience with this? Or have
any ideas how to make this work? Your input would be greatly appreciated!
You can respond privately or if you feel thsi would benefit others, please
post to the list. Thank you Ladies!
