When I was pregnant, my 1 yo weaned herself but was unable to tolerate
cow's milk or standard ABM. I couldn't buy soy toddler ABM, so I had to
give her the standard stuff for newborn's (which says on the tin it can
be used by children or adults). It was high in glucose syrup (which can
rot the teeth terribly) and goodness knows what other stuff it had in
it, but it was the best available at the time (my dietitian advised
against adult-type soya milks as they are deficient in certain
nutrients). I personally would have liked to be able to buy soy follow-
on ABM, perhaps with a lower sugar content? Much as I support
breastfeeding, I realise that ABM will always be necessary in some
circumstances - I hate the stuff, but couldn't have managed without it.
