Hi Gonneke
Many congratulations on becoming a grandma and may you have much joy from
this new stage of life. I am a grandma of 9, the eldest is 13. I have for
many years intended to write a book to guide new grandparents on that
delicate path between giving support and not interfering - except that I am
so busy being a working grandparent that I haven`t had time to get down to
it.
All you can do about breastfeeding is to be available, give all the support
you can, reinforce everything that is positive, (as you would to a client)
but without getting too emotional about it if the mother listens to her
mother before you. Hopefully you will be consulted if there are problems
and before the baby is offered a bottle.
Alternatively give the other grandmother a present of an updated
breastfeeding book!
With all good wishes
