Actually, Jim Coates, who is my new best friend in Monday's Chicago Tribune
Business section, says that the worst problem w/ this particular hoax is the
time that you waste trying to delete the file. You won't have a problem IF
you did delete it -- it runs JAVA scripts which few people use anymore.
Basically, he says, if you get a message that says something that Norton's or
McAvee (sp) won't pick up, then this is probably a hoax. If you get a
message that says go into your whatever and delete this, that or the other,
it is probably a hoax. If you want to read Jim for himself, I think you can
find him on www.chicagotribune.com -- look for Jim Coates. (Of course, not
knowing this would come up today, I pitched today's paper w/ the rest of the
Monday trash....sigh....so I can't tell you the whole thing. But he
specifically addressed this one today.
