1. Bottle feeding is never 'physiological' - physiological feeding
happens at breasts.

2. Bottle feeding cannot be 'baby-led' - has anyone ever seen a newly
born baby crawl towards a kitchen, make up a bottle, attach itself and begin
feeding?

3. Bottle feeding cannot be 'cue based' since when babies communicate
(cue) that they are hungry, they expect to be fed at a mother's breast

4. Bottle feeding, when unavoidable, can include active engagement
with the baby on the part of the caregiver, which will result in more
responsive and respectful feeding practices

5. Bottle feeding should not be initiated unless all other avenues
have been exhausted. The very newest babies are capable of feeding from an
open cup when breastfeeding is not possible. Feeding from a cup
necessitates active feeding on the part of the baby and responsiveness on
the part of the caregiver. Medical and child-care facilities don't like
using cups to feed babies because the process is more time consuming (and
one cannot fill out paper work or talk on the 'phone while doing it - and
no-one ever brags that they could cup feed a stone) but this is precisely
why it is better for babies.
