wrote to Frank Nice about this.  Here is what he gathered up - 
Mom needs to contact her physician first.  
She may have gastric symptoms from dom, altho the bypass only affects the stomach and the rest of her intestinal tract is probably intact and normal.  May have gut cramping and diarrhea, which some users of dom complain of.  Major SE of dom are weight gain and headache.
Re: prolonged QT (SE of dom) it is extremely rare and so far has only occurred in older men (>72 yo) or in patients who were hypokalemic post chemo.  So if mom has normal EKG that wouldn't be a problem. 
The dose can be 10-20 mg TID and do NOT go higher.
