Susan,

Just felt the need to add to your discussion of sunlight deficiency.
Trivisol is made by Bristol Myers Squibb (Mead Johnson). CEO of Nestle, Peter
Brabeck sits on the board of Roche (chemical and vitamin business--vitamin business
recently sold off). It makes financial sense, if one is an infant formula
maker to have partnerships/connections to vitamin/supplement businesses.

From skimming the patents on various vitamin D supplements, I do believe that
alot of what is now being manufactured is "novel" ingredients (with strong
possibilities of genetic engineering). So is this recent recognition of rickets
in breastfed infants (one must question the breastfeeding definition), a
reality? Or is it creative research and marketing by a biotech industry that
needs to show a profit?
