I saw the same video by Briggs and Yaffee and also noticed that they forbid
metocloprimide. I think they also made a big deal about alcohol consumption
which I disagree with as well. In general these videos by drug companies
are
not out of the goodness of their heart and their unsupervised use for
pediatric education should be avoided (How to do this of course is another
problem)
The above comments from Dr. Deena Zimmerman echo what I observed when a
certain ABM company came around to WIC trying to sell their latest
"innovative" formula, and they provided many copies of a small version of
Briggs,et al Drug book for drugs compatible with breastfeeding. The
introduction was extremely conservative compared to what I had learned as
an IBCLC, so I advised our staff to use only Hale's book and the
Rochester,NY Lactation Resource Center for info. I would still make the
same recommendation! M.Scott, RD,IBCLC in NH
