We've had great success saving immature squirrels with expressed breastmilk.
(You would not BELIEVE how many people have asked if we actually NURSED the
squirrels!)  A friend of mine used a store of frozen milk for one she rescued,
and then I did the same for a couple of weeks before turning my own foundling
over to her.  (Just could not deal with getting up every two hours to feed a
squirrel.  :-))
In the short term, it seems to do a very good job.
I'm happy your little pet is doing so well, I'm sure your son is thrilled.
