Those interested in the drought crisis in East Africa may be interested in
the below (especially if you are in the UK). From an advocacy perspective it
would be very useful if any of you who decide to be a part of these forums
asked questions about how aid orgs are supporting young infants.
Unfortunately, even in the very best of aid orgs infants under 6 months are
often not targeted for aid because people understand that they should be
breastfed.they do not understand that this still means that they need help
and that they need to help the mothers to help their babies. Raising the
issue of the need to support all infants and young children in emergencies
is also helpful in terms of letting aid and media orgs know that ensuring
that appropriate aid is provided is important to potential donors..really
important.

The below message is from Save the Children UK

Note: Save the Children UK has a good reputation for providing appropriate
aid to infants and young children (so if you ask what they are doing it may
well give them a good opportunity to say some good stuff). Plan
International doesn't focus on infant and young child feeding and have made
some doosey mistakes in the past.

Please forward this message on elsewhere.
