Shouldn't all policies that impact babies assume the true nature of the
human infant
as the guiding principle?

Dear Friends:
    Yes.
    Oh YES!!

Apologies in advance for writing in SUCH a passion!!!

The whole purpose of labor and birth is to bring forth a live healthy
baby.

In today's obstetrics, the baby is the last one to be considered when
considering or intending technology as part of the process.

I've seen babies sent to NICU because their blood sugars are low. These
babies aren't sick. They are hungry. They need what is in their mother's
breast. And that is the last thing these babies will get, and only if they are
lucky.

    Everything is inside out.

What about the Lieberman study showing that babies born to febrile
mothers would more likely be hypotonic or even have a seizure. Guess what was the
conclusion of that study of 1,218 dyads???

Reduce the use of epidural anesthesia would be my conclusion.

    No, that wasn't it.

The researchers suggest that we should examine further to see if normal
babies having seizures in the nursery is really of any consequence.

    This is nuts to me.

And why is breastfeeding still so hard? The US got people to put their
babies "Back to Sleep" when unattended in just a few years. Isn't
breastfeeding just as important in a life?

    Sheesh!!
    warmly,
