This sounds like hypnogogic hallucinations to me - you know - that
feeling of falling that you sometimes get just as you are falling
asleep that makes you jump???
All of my 3 kids jumped sometimes during sleep, adults do too.
Hasn't the paed ever seen a human asleep??
