Hi Jamie,

I recently did a lot of research on breast reductions, because at the age of
45, I finally had one. I did not have the scarless procedure, I had the
regular one.( Most women are probably not good candidates for the scarless
procedure

Scarless breast reduction is basically liposuction of the breasts. It
doesn't reduce or remove or move skin or nipple---it just removes some of
the fat. Women who already have good shape, taut skin, have more fat than
glandular tissue, and want a small reduction are the best candidates. It's
my understanding that many plastic surgeons feel that the results it yields
aren't very good, because it causes breast skin laxity.

I don't think that you will come across many women who have this procedure
for those reasons.

That being said, my understanding of the procedure is that it is less
invasive and doens't cut milk ducts or remove glandular tissue. It logically
seems that it would be less likely to interfere with breastfeeding.

I am a New Hampshire person as well, and I had my surgery at a teaching
hospital, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and I would wager you could probably speak to
someone there, professional to professional about the procedure, without
having to pay for a consult!

Warmly,
June Eastman IBCLC
