On behalf of Ellen McIntyre, Board Chair, I'm writing to inform you of the
most recent statement adopted by the Board in regard to commercial
sponsorship or funding of professional education for IBCLCs.

We appreciate your previous correspondence to us in regard to this issue and
want you to be among the first to know of the most recent statement adopted
by the Board. Feel free to share this information with others, bearing in
mind that we will be sending a notice to all IBCLCs worldwide.

You may read the most recently adopted statement by clicking on the

<< Furthermore, in response to the larger issue of commercial funding or
sponsorship of professional education, the

IBLCE Board is committed to removing any possible perception of influence by
industry on professional education

for its certificants. Therefore, as a first step toward this goal, the Board
has resolved that:

. As of June 30, 2009, IBLCE will no longer accept CERP applications for
education funded or sponsored by

companies that manufacture or distribute products that fall within the scope
of the International Code of

Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes1.>>

Best wishes,

Sam Doak

We're going to Candy Mountain, Charlie!
