There was a recent study published in Acta Paediatr 85:1029-32 1996 about
the size of the thymus gland and breastfeeding. Exclusively breastfeeding
babies at 4 months had a thymus gland more than twice the size of babies
soley abm fed at 4 months. The significance of this is not clear, but
probably due to the immune-modulating factors in breastmilk...Interesting,
huh?-Anne Eglash MD
