Hi Lois
You seem to be on track with this mom. It is always POSSIBLE that the supply
will increase and supps can be d/c'd but there is no real way to predict.
Her best bet IMO is to feed very frequently w/ the supplementer and keep up
w/ the post feed pumps if she can manage. Sounds like the supply may be
pretty good, based on hx of engorgement and having 2 oz at one fdg. Could be
that the baby is more the problem, not extracting the milk well and
therefore her supply could be compromised if she does not express. Maybe the
BABY needs further work w/ suck eval/suck training??? OT/PT eval.?
Craniosacral therapy?
There has been some talk on lactnet of moms obtaining domperidone from
mexico or canada (check archives) altho this mom probably wouldn't go for
this. apparently this is not illegal, she could discuss w/ her doc. less
side effects i am told. Good luck.
