Do any of you have any knowledge as to whether a really strict vegetarian
(the kind that doesn't do dairy, etc.) would be more likely to be at risk for
insufficient milk? I don't have many details but we saw a woman for a PP
visit (6 days old) who is a really strict vegetarian, who has very little
breastmilk (she was only able to pump 7 cc.) and the baby has already lost 2
pounds!! She had the good sense to contact another lactation specialist and
then decided to come in and see one of my colleagues for another visit.

We're working it out with her (using an SNS) but these are tough people to
work with.

Any info on this supply issue would really be appreciated!! Thanks.
