Hello, to all! I'm wondering if there are any studies regarding hind milk feedings for slow gaining preemies. I have heard of this being done and recommended it to one of our neonatologists for one of our slow gainers and he thought it sounded like a great idea. I did a literature search and couldn't find any studies to support this. Have I missed something? Are there guidelines for doing this? I talked to the mother, who pumps 4 - 5 ounces each time, and asked her to pump 2 ounces, change bags, then pump the rest which we would use to see if it helps the baby gain weight. I just wish I had some science to back up this practice.

Any references, guidelines, or success stories out there?

Thanks,
