Hi,
Thanks to all of you who have posted and or privately e-mailed me
with the support and encouragement to step over the lines on this one. I
called both Mom and the doctor today. I asked mom's permission to speak to
the doctor about his not being concerned about this baby's loss. So then,
Mom assures me MD *is* concerned and requested she pump twice per day. Mom
and Dad decided they would only pump and give bottles of only EBM and no
more *breast*feeding. I repeated to her that a single battery operated pump
is NOT adequate to establish or maintain her supply without any
breastfeeding, suggested she nurse only on the no longer sore side and pump
both. She informed me a friend used this same pump and it was fine for
months... Also recommended she nurse first then pump and supplement. Again
described and suggested the SNS. No response from mom, literally silence.
I called the MD, he is out on Thursdays and unreachable, office
recommended I fax him my concerns. I did so, 4 pages worth, including my
recommendation for care plan -- specifically to insist that he tell mom if
she is going to pump to get a double electric hospital grade pump and set
guidelines on how many ounces she's feeding and any need to supplement with
formula. She wasn't keeping a written record...
Supposedly baby had three wet diapers yesterday... Mom doesn't get
that that isn't enough even still....
I also contacted the Home Health Nurses and they said the Public
Health Department could order a home visit anonymously, but have not heard
back from them on whether this is the case or will happen.
Now if I hear he's still losing weight and the MD says he is not
concerned or the Mom is not giving me the story on what he has or hasn't
told her, I'll call CSD anonymously and get someone to advocate for the child.

I'm gonna get in trouble for this, but I have to intervene for the baby's
sake. Thanks for all your support in doing so!! It means so much to have
this group behind me!
