I had a mother report green, frothy, foul-smelling stools in her infant
who was nursing well, growing well.  She had tried a number of things to
no avail.

I questioned more of her daily intake habits.  She said she was taking a
daily vitamin capsule.  It was not a standard prenatal vitamin because
she could not tolerate them, but rather a preparation she got at a
health food store.  An ingredient in the vitamin was alfalfa.  When she
stopped taking the vitamin capsule the baby's stools became yellow,
seedy within 48 hours.  She thanked me profusely.  The doctors had never
questioned what she was taking other than to recommend removing all
dairy products from her diet.
