I know that this sounds like a self-serving US-based issue, but the reality
is, whatever is sold to OUR moms to give to OUR babies end up being sent
EVERYWHERE!  

 

Additives with NO PROVEN BENEFITS are being fed to our infants - some
believe it's the only way that formula companies can make money - by
charging MORE for their "new and improved products" because WE are cutting
into their PROFITS - I really hope that is the truth.but we need to fight
this continuing experimenting with our infants' and babies' nutrition and
RIGHT to receive mother's milk - and not strip our families of more money
for unnecessary "upgrading".

California WIC Association (CWA) is asking for your help in the Action Alert
(below) with regard to the Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNA) and
language regarding formula and food additives. The National WIC Association
has released a new position on the additives. CWA does not support their new
position and needs your help in continuing to let Congress know we need
language in the bill regarding additives to formula and foods for WIC

Contact Congressman Miller's office and your Congressional Representative

Message: Urge them to support including language in Child Nutrition
Reauthorization that directs the Agriculture Department (USDA), which
oversees WIC, to get expert advice from an independent scientific body (like
the Institute of Medicine) to develop a science-based decision-making
process for determining whether WIC should offer more costly products that
contain functional ingredients.  WIC can't wait for an FDA fix!
