Thank you to everyone who sent cards to me after my recent surgery. I am
still in rehab but it is going very well. My husband bought me a new car with an
automatic so I can drive so I am finally getting out. I will probably have
some degree of disability permanently.I have no ideal what I am going to do since
the hospital changed the job requirement to a RN instead of a BS. I wuold
love to to work with Dr Jay but he is on a different coastline! But I have had
to go immediately into "waiting for baby" mode. My daughter's due dates were
June 18-July 1st. Since her husband is a charter boat captain and out in the
ocean each day, I am staying with her in case something starts to happen. The
childbirth plans are all upset. They were going to deliver at a free standing
birth center but there was a birth with a bad outcome there ( had to transfer
to the hospital but the birth center got the rap) so the the birth center
closed. She now has to deliver at a hospital. We are going to have to battle to
get her birth plans followed. The nurse at the hospital said that if the moms
there fall asleep and the baby is hungry, they just go ahead and bottle feed!!
So my daughter's response was she just won't fall asleep, the baby won't leave
the room, and the family IBCLC (me) will not leave the mom and baby.
If anyone is visiting the Outer Banks of NC in July or August I'd love to
meet you.Send an email. I am already in bfing education withdrawal since I am
having to miss the conferences. Hope there are lots of conference discussions in
the next few weeks.
