I have a question for all the guru's out there...and others who just love to
discuss such things...I go round and round with the other nuses where I work
as an LC about this, I could have this all wrong but I'd like to see a
discussion any way..so here goes...when a mother is a smoker and she
delivers the baby the nursery staff swears the baby is going through
withdrawal from nicotine and is fussy because of the withdrawal. I say it
is the nicotene crossing into the milk that causes fussiness along with the
slow let down from mothers who are smokers and the infant sufferes from
brain changes that occured inutero. I looked at my sources and it doesn't
say anything about withdrawal. Any ideas on this?
