Good question.  I know bacteria and viruses have been isolated from
small, personal pumps, but have not heard of moms reinfecting themselves
(the immune system has "memory cells" circulating, so when we are
exposed to the same germ over again, the body pumps out antibodies so
fast we never get sick.  This is why one generally only gets measles
once, and why vaccines work).  We certainly need to do more research in
this area.  I like the fact that all of Ameda Egnells pumps are "closed
system" now, there is no way for anything to get into the motors.
