I agree Mary Kay. I was recently reading a paper (written by an
anthropologist) about breastfeeding amongst working women in Nepal. These
women rarely exclusively breastfed however, average breastfeeding duration
was 28 months! It seems that in cultures where breastfeeding is normal mixed
feeding can continue indefinitely but in cultures where breastfeeding is not
supported supplementation is often the beginning of the end.
