Sorry folks, for using a medical abbreviation. I know better than that, just wasn't thinking. Yes, gtts is "drops" as in 2 drops of medication per eye or mouth or whatever. My sincere apologies. Catherine, thanks for your explanation. I did some more research after I read your post and ...sure
enough... (You'd think, wouldn't you, that since my daughter is lactose intolerant I would already know this. Must be slipping!) lactase is made in the brush border of the gut and when that is damaged so is the gut's ability to synthesize it. Makes perfect sense!
Marsha, who wonders after reading more about the subject, why aren't more of us lactose intolerant?
