> * Until she wants her chewing gum back again
>

At one point last year, we were discussing benchmarks for weaning, and
Chris Hafner-Eaton suggested chewing gum. A child who is able to chew
without swallowing gum and may be distracted from nursing by chewing gum
is a child who may be ready to discuss weaning.
Not an ideal weaning food, I admit, but there's something cute about
seeing her eyes light up when she asks for chewing gum for breakfast --
after her lolo, of course. :-)
Today I went over a whole set of revisions in the time it stayed in her
mouth. Once she threw it out, I knew it was time for a more serious
distractor, and now I have water from the downstairs bathroom out into
the yard, and five bathing beauties.
"Until she gets her Red Cross gold" ?
