I had a response similar to Pat's daughter when friends asked me if my
baby was sleeping through the night.  I always said, "My baby's sleeping
very well, thank you."  That response didn't leave much room for a
critical reply from the person who asked the question.  In my own mind,
I told myself that if my feet didn't have to touch the floor in order to
meet the needs of my baby during the night, then I was also "sleeping
through the night".  These two thoughts have helped many of the mothers
that I have worked with feel better about the choices they have made in
regard to sleeping with their baby and meeting needs during the night.
