Gonneke,
There is absolutely nothing wrong with bottles, teats or infant formula for
that matter. They can all be useful tools. However, it has been determined
that marketing these products to the public via advertisement is unethical
(that's what the WHO Code says). Any company can sell any of these products
and adhere to the Code. However, Medela are marketing the bottles as
individual items to members of the public in a way that the ICDC has said
breaches the Code. That's why the fuss.

the ancient Ameda Egnell did 20+ years ago) and leave it up to mom and or
caretaker to provide for means of feeding the breastmilk to the child. But I
honestly do not see how Medela is endangering breastfeeding by offering
bottles with the pumps. As far as I know the do not market the bottles as
individual commercial items, only in combination with pumps.
