Jenny,

I have only dealt with 2 moms with nipple piercing (that I knew of) and both took them out for feeding baby. Neither one has had anything but some of the usual issues ( they may leak more where the hole is) but it could also depend on how the nipple is configured and exactly how far back they are piercing. If she is concerned about the holes closing and wants to maintain them for afterward she needs to find some kind of ring that is easy on and off as most body jewelry takes some work and dexterity, the bars would be easier then the rings. You might suggest she leaves them both out at night time as I am sure she is like the rest of us and doesn't want to deal with taking a nipple ring out at 2 am. A regular earring might work as well but may need the hole stretched later to reintroduce the body jewelry as it is usually much wider.

I know a woman who owns a body piercing studio here who also breastfeeds. I could ask her what she knows and what they are taught as I know she attends national conference r/t body piercing just like we do for lactation. Let me know.

Donna
Praying for good results tomorrow
