The Hale  information implies that for a breastfeeding mother a gin and  tonic
wouldn't hurt.  However I would prefer to recommend vodka and  orange juice -
all that vitamin C...... :-)




In The Netherlands (where the original question came from) tonic is a soft
drink, or "bubble-lemonade", thought rather bitter in taste and not as sweet as
 lemonades (like cola or 7up anmd thelike). It is not perse used as a mix for
 alcoholdrinks, but as a not too childish non-alcoholic drink,  like bitter
lemon. Most children do not like it all that much.
