Before doing anything exotic for a mother whose BF history I only had bits
of, second-hand, I would recommend a thorough review of what happened with
her other attempts at establishing supply. Maybe this has already been
done, and Lactnet was spared the non-relevant details, and I apologize for
stating the obvious. In my experience, the obvious often needs stating.
I would also want to know when, in the course of things, the diagnosis of
failed supply was made. On day 3 or day 33?
Then, if there were any doubt about the kind of care she and her babies got,
I would want to ensure that they got good care from the very start this time
round. I would not belittle the importance of what she told me, but I would
leave the possibility open that things would go better with better help.
I don't have any experience with exogenous prolactin, by injections or any
other route.
