I hope this is considered on-topic. I am about to begin the process of
doula certification and have a question particularly of the wise ones in
Israel. Is anyone aware of the Jewish law concerning driving to the
hospital on Shabbat to assist as a doula and/or lactation
consultant/breastfeeding advisor? I have been asked to be a doula for
someone delivering out of walking distance from my home. My internet search
on this was fruitless. Before I formally discuss this with a Rabbi, I
wanted to know if this situation has arisen for any of you, and what your
rabbis/Jewish texts you've consulted have said about this. Thanks in
advance,

Julie Rosen, LLLL in Teaneck, NJ
