Hello everyone, I have been counselling a mother (I have her permission
to post) with a three month old that has more or less been in a nursing
strike for about 3 weeks now. In talking to her I realised that she had
a problem with over-supply and over active let-down. In the meantime
she feels she has these problems under control and when the baby nurses,
she has no problems with choking and the like. In the last three weeks
she has been able to get the baby to nurse by catching her before she is
really awake; this works really well in the night but increasingly, she
is having problems to get the baby to nurse during the day. The baby
starts to drink and then suddenly realises what she is doing and cries.
You can imagine that the poor mother is getting very frustrated, the
baby is getting practically all of her 8 times at the breast during the
night. I am at a loss as to what to say in this situation. Any
ideas???

Best wishes for a happy and peaceful 2003!!!
