If breast feeding goes on for years, Glazer said the balance could shift and
it could become more of a mother's need rather than a child's need. "It's
such an individual thing, it is hard to make a judgment about that," Glazer
said. >

The article was great except for this statement. As the mother of a still
nursing 6 year old boy, I am not doing this for myself! I am wistful at the
thought that he is weaning now (albeit slowly), but I simply cannot force
him nurse if he doesn't want to. He just won't do it! I had mastitis a
couple of weeks ago, and neither child (my 6 yr old or 3 yr old) would nurse
on the affected side. You cannot force a child to nurse if they don't want
to. I love nursing my son (and daughter) but I can see when they are ready
to move on and I would never even try to force nursing on them, talk about
taking something that is beautiful and making it ugly.
