I have often suggested that people who use CIO consider using it at the other end of life.  They are teaching their children to find them a nursing home where everyone is changed and fed and laid down at 7pm, with rails around their beds so they can't climb out and hurt themselves. They are left alone to moan and cry to soothe themselves to sleep, because the staff knows all their legitimate needs have been met and they are just being manipulative.  Besides, everybody gets more sleep this way, and they seem perfectly happy during the day.

A place like that would be shut down in a flash.  Why are babies inferior and disrespected just because they can't use words??
