HI! I have been a subscriber to Lactnet for about a year now and am
enjoying the discussion very much. I also have 4 breastfed (1 currently
breastfeeding) children.

I just wanted to let you know I agree with Carolee about the "baby bucket"
things. I always picked up my babies when they cried and tried to respond
to their needs by holding or rocking them. However, I also used the carrier
especially in church. It was a lot easier to let the baby sleep in his
carrier that in my arms and try to keep up with my 2, 4, and 6 year old.

I think there is something deeper here in Cathy B.'s comment. ( -By the
way, Cathy, I really enjoy your comments.) I think the issue is that so many
mom's never get emotionally attatched to their children or at least not
enough to let their children have their emotional needs met. I think there
must be many causes to this which I don't feel qualified to solve but I
think that if we can get women to believe that breastfeeding is best for all
that we have gone a long way toward reestablishing that emotional
connection with mom's and babies. Everyone does things in their own way of
course but those hormones involved with lactation can only help with the
bonding.

There- I finally posted. I feel like a real Lactnetter now.
