We all see through such different eyes!  I *liked* the word, because I felt
it took the feeding pressure off.

I will sometimes tell a mom "For now, nurse as often as you like, but
consider it recreational nursing, *don't* think of it as feeding the baby.
Since your baby doesn't swallow much when he nurses, he's not getting fed
and you're not increasing your milk supply.  The pump will see to it that
both those things happen, and you won't spend all day trying to transfer
small amounts of milk.  As your baby gets better at this, we'll shift the
job from the pump to the baby.  But for now, the pump is where your milk
supply and his food are going to come from."  Because I saw the term through
my particular lens, I thought the word "practice" (or practise :-)  ) was
apt.
