I am on Facebook, and I would join a Lactnet group, if
one were created. I joined Facebook because my son
wanted me to be able to read things he was posting
there, and to join some La Leche League related
groups. I have joined a few other groups (some just
for fun) and causes.

Facebook is a networking site, kind of like MySpace
(but I like it better than MySpace). You can adjust
your privacy levels to various degrees - it's
definitely not an all or nothing proposition. I have
made myself searchable, but you can only see very
basic info about me - basically my name, my picture,
but no personal info.

I mostly use Facebook to keep up with what individuals
are doing. If there is a particular cause, event, news
story, etc., you can post it and your "friends" can
see it in and check it out. So, I guess that's not so
different from what we are doing on the Lactnet
listserv.

I guess the advantage I could see of having a Lactnet
presence on Facebook would be to create awareness that
the group exists, especially for the many younger
users on Facebook. But I am not sure what Kathleen's
goals would be for a Facebook Lactnet group, so I
don't want to speak out of turn. :-)

That's my two cents' worth. :-)
