Please keep in mind that this type of product
increases the volume to be evacuated and therefore
decreases the effective vacuum of the pump. Overall,
it is likely to decrease the effectiveness of the pump
used unless the pump manufacturer re-sets its vacuum
curves to accomodate a larger evacuation chamber.
Remember from high school physics, PV=nrT. As volume
increases, pressure decreases.

Leaning over a pump or sitting straight should not be
a problem for most moms unless they are putting uneven
pressure on the flange. This can often be eliminated
by having mom split her fingers in a "V" shape and
holding the flange softly on the breast rather than
having mom hold the bottle. If a larger flange is
needed, it would be best to stay with the ones
engineered by the pump manufacturer. I believe it may
be risky to mother's long-term milk supply to add this
type of a after market product.
