Dear friends,

Is it not a matter of definitions? What definition of ''enough'' or ''not enough'' do we use? Is only the average enough or even only the top half of average? Or do we accept that the lower end of normal or just beyond is fine as is the upper end of normal and just beyond is?
I a positive outcome about weight alone? Or about chubbiness? Or do we accept that a skinny kid that is healthy otherwise (thriving and developing within the normal range) is fine?
In *my* 25+years of experience with moms and babies I've seen lots of ''supply issues'' that turned out to be ''breastfeeding management issues'', and I've seen lots of HCPs ranting about slow growth and the need to supplement with mr N's fine product, while standing next to the kid, blooming and cooing, but petite and not fitting between the lines on the charts. Real lactation insufficiency I've seen only very rarely.

I think I once read that in any given (mammal?) species that if more than 3% of essential reproductive organs/systems fail the species will end it's existence eventually. Milk production is one of the essential reproductive systems, so I find it hard to believe that could be so many female bodies fail to perform this function.
