Basically, I want to know if I point out the brown stools to the pediatrician, will they laugh at me, or is there some actual medical issue related to this non- yellow poop?

In other words, if a dyad came in to you presenting with low weight gain, and you did a thorough assessment, and one of the factors that floated to the top was brown stools that have never been yellow - what would you explore first? Or would that info be insignificant?

In other words, do brown stools and low weight gain have anything to do with each other? Sorry to continue to be vague, I am just trying explore all possible reasons to store in my head for the next time this presents.

Thank you,
Lisa Paul, IBCLC
