Hi,

Saw a patient today who's baby was taken off of the breast because her doctor
didn't think
it was safe for her to breastfeed with the antibiotic he put her on for
mastitis....Levaquin. They
cultured her milk, it came back staph and that is what they gave her. The
baby is
now 3 weeks old, has been off of the breast for two weeks and she wanted help
getting him
back on. He resumed breastfeeding well, but she complains of burning nipples
and says that
is exactly what it feels like. Can't find a reason what she has it and don't
know how to make
her more comfortable. No other signs of yeast (which she was also treated
for) and nipples look relatively healthy before and after feedings. I've
checked the books and can't find anything.

Thanks,
