I see such cases too and it terrifies me very much. E.g. on the bulletin
board of the homepage of the dutch bf organization "Borstvoeding
Natuurlijk" there is a woman who asks if she should be worried. A nurse
from the check-up centers sent her home the baby who is 2 weeks old , below
birth weigth, and NOT GAINING WEIGTH AT ALL in the last week, just with the
message: "come back next week". This mother writes the baby nurses every 4
hour and not at nigth. So, the baby nurses 4 or 5 times every day. The
mothers thinks she shouldn't be worried since her baby is so
'content'.......

Who can read Dutch can check it out on:
http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/6929 (the thread called "Eet goed, komt
niet aan, toch tevreden....? ").

Of course I wrote her her child should gain more and to nurse much more
often, etc.

These people think they are bf friendly by not suggesting supplementing,
but are terrible ignorant. brrr.

regards,

Annelies Bon
bf councsellor of the Dutch organization "Borstvoeding Natuurlijk"
